Primary Victory!

Candidate spotlight:

  • Congressman Raúl Grijalva began his career as a community organizer in Tucson and today continues to be an outspoken, progressive voice for immigrants, people of color, working people, and marginalized communities across the board.
  • For years, Congressman Grijalva has stood up against anti-immigrant candidates and fought for legislation that permanently protects undocumented immigrant youth and all undocumented people in the U.S.
  • Prior to his election, Congressman Grijalva served as the chairman of the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board for six years and was later elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors, where he served for 15 years.
  • Raúl served as the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus for 10 years, during which he championed policies to invest in working families, raise the minimum wage, and implement a single-payer healthcare system. He has also served as a long-standing member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
  • Grijalva authored the Environmental Justice for All Act, a bill that would require that the disproportionate impacts of environmental pollution on communities of color be considered before new infrastructure that pollutes is approved in said communities.
  • Grijalva currently serves as the chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources and as a member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce. He understands that environmental justice and education justice are critical to immigrant justice.
