Between Trump ending DACA and mishandling COVID-19, immigrant youth and our families are not safe while Trump is in the White House, we must vote him out!

Miami, FL – Tonight, Trump continued to spew racism, conspiracy theories, while also comparing white supremacists to protestors demanding justice for police violence against Black people. At the town hall, which took place at the Pérez Art Museum in Miami, Trump also continued to lie about the danger of COVID-19 and his disastrous response. Nationwide, over 217,500 people have died from COVID-19 and over 8 million have been infected.

At one point, Trump was directly asked about DACA, a program he has relentlessly attacked.

Cristina Jiménez, Co-founder of United We Dream Action PAC, said:

“My brother has DACA and Trump wants to deport him. From the over 5,000 families separated as a result of his family separation policy to the immigrant women forcibly sterilized in ICE detention facilities to the 800,000 young people put at risk of deportation during Trump’s continuous attempts to end DACA, Trump’s cruelty knows no bounds. He will do everything he can to attack our communities and deport immigrants, including DACA recipients.

Immigrant youth organized and fought tirelessly to make DACA happen, and we will continue to fight to protect DACA recipients and their families. Defeating Trump is crucial to protecting immigrants and advancing immigrant justice. We will not stand by while Trump puts our lives on the line. Joe Biden has promised to reinstate DACA and stop deportations on day one, which would immediately impact over 300,000 young people who were too young to apply for the program before Trump cruelly ended it. These young people would be able to apply for DACA for the first time and be protected from deportation. In order to protect immigrant youth and win protections for the over 11 million undocumented people, we must vote Trump out. ”

Thomas Kennedy, Florida State Coordinator of United We Dream Action PAC, said:

“Trump’s recklessness has resulted in over 217,500 people dead across the country, a death toll that will most certainly grow the longer he is in office. These were all lives that were carelessly put on the line because of Trump’s deliberate mishandling of this pandemic. Trump admitted to knowing about the severity of the virus in February and yet took little action to protect the public. Even after contracting COVID-19 himself, Trump continued to ignore the experts, putting those around him at risk. Now millions of families will live with the trauma of losing a loved one that could have been alive if not for Trump.

The numbers don’t lie. COVID-19 cases are rising in over half the states nationwide, and we won’t stay silent as more lives are lost. Instead of prioritizing COVID-19 relief to our communities, Trump cares more about advancing his white supremacist agenda by confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, ending the census early to exclude immigrants and harder-to-count communities, and casting doubt on mail-in voting. The only way to get COVID-19 under control is to vote Trump out.”
