Texas – Last night, the Texas 35th Congressional District voted to send pro-immigrant Greg Casar to represent them in the next Congress. Leading up to the midterm election, immigrant youth of United We Dream Action mobilized voters in TX-35 to make sure they had a plan to vote.
Michelle Ming, Political Director of United We Dream Action, said:
“The progressive movement in Texas is stronger than it was yesterday. United We Dream Action is proud to have worked with a broad coalition of progressive partners to elect Greg Casar to Congress from TX-35.
Greg Casar’s victory shows that Texans support progressive, pro-immigrant champions. The people of TX-35 know that we can demand our elected leaders take bold action to address our most pressing issues. Black, brown, and immigrant young people have built a movement in Texas to protect each other from Republicans’ ongoing anti-black, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ attacks. Casar’s victory is a result of this movement. Throughout his campaign, Greg has demonstrated he understands the importance of creating a just future for us all. We look forward to working with Greg Casar and we are excited to have a pro-immigrant champion we can rely on in Congress.”
